Nothing stunned me more than reading a box of blueberry muffin mix the other day to discover its blueberries were artificial. My first thought was, how the heck does one make a fake blueberry? Wouldn't it be easier to just use real blueberries? You don't see cookie mixes using fake chocolate chips. Just one of those things that really took me by surprise.
