This one comes from personal experience, kind of. While on a cruise with my wife, I somehow turned a new pair of water shoes into a toxic hazard in a matter of a couple of days. So much so that they made our cabin darn near unlivable. I'm sure I created a new form of life in those shoes, but in order to enjoy the rest of our vacation, I had to ditch that unholy pair of shoes. Maybe that's why our room didn't get cleaned for a couple of days, the staff refused to enter!
