Growing up as a teen in the late '80s as I did, I always found it somewhat humorous to see a heavy metal band put out a beautiful ballad, something that was 180-degrees off from what they normally did. Every hair band had at least one sappy ballad. Just thought it would be funny if they named their ballads in such a way to maintain their rough and tough persona. Couldn't you picture a hard core heavy metal band at a concert saying something like, "OK, thank you. We want to slow things down a bit. Here's a classical music piece we wrote called 'Plague of Despair', hope you enjoy it!'"
I know this comic gag is a bit dated by now, since the
iPod commercials with silhouetted dancers are long gone, but I thought it would be a nice throwback. What I do know for sure, if I tried to dance, people would really think I was in pain. It would look less like an act of self expression and more like a desperate plea for help! Needless to say, you won't see me dancing any time soon. And the world is better of for it, believe me.
