Just Plain Madness

It's that time of year again. The days are getting noticeably longer, temperatures are getting warmer, and everyone is carrying around college basketball tournament brackets. A great time of the year, especially the first two rounds of the basketball tournament when everyone thinks they have the winning bracket. Some try to increase their odds of doing well by filling out multiple bracket sheets. My theory has always been that if you have too many brackets to follow you eventually have to root against yourself since invariably you'll pick team A to win on one bracket but team B to win on another. I like to keep it simple with as few brackets as possible. And yes, I do have the winning bracket! At least until the games begin.

Becoming Part of the Furniture

Happens every year. I sit down and watch the Super Bowl on TV. Not because my favorite team is playing for the championship (hasn't happened since 1984), but because I know it is the last football game of the season. That sense of impending loss forces me to tune in and enjoy it while it lasts. When the final whistle blows there's a void in the hearts and minds of sports fans every where. Sure there's basketball to watch, some professional golf, but it is difficult to fill that emptiness. At least until baseball spring training starts!

Trash Talkin'

Would sports exist if there was no such thing as trash talking? Sometimes I wonder. Some people do it to get into the mind of their opponent, others do it because they lack sufficient skills and see trash talking as a way to make them appear better than they really are. But as our hero in the comic strip above said, I think I could still do quite well in basketball at my age against sixth graders, no matter how much trash talking they do. Hey, as you get older, you have to set the bar pretty low.

About Off Center Webcomic

Off Center is published weekly and is a family-friendly webcomic for people who like to laugh and maybe see the world in a slightly different way.

With all the filth on the Internet these days, hopefully this comic serves a refreshing oasis of fun and decency. And, most importantly, it is my hope that you enjoy this comic enough to return each week for the next installment. Always looking for comedic material so feel free to contribute!
